The Brief
Dubai Islamic Bank commissioned Ten Eight to design an intimate executive lounge within their new Deira headquarters — a dedicated 150 square metre environment on the ground floor, reserved for the CEO and upper management. The brief was precise: create a space that felt luxurious, premium, and unmistakably high-end, while maintaining the discretion appropriate to its use. Two additional imperatives shaped the direction.
The Approach
We drew our palette from the local desert. The material language is warm, quiet, and rooted in place — light oak veneer, beige marbles, brushed champagne metalwork, and fluted tinted glass details layered together with restraint. Nothing is loud. Nothing announces itself. The luxury is felt rather than displayed — precisely the register a boardroom-level environment demands.
The Approach
The composition is deliberately minimal and contemporary. Clean lines, considered proportion, and generous negative space allow the materials themselves to carry the room. A curated selection of artwork by local artists brings cultural depth and singular character — pieces that could not have been specified from a catalogue and that ground the lounge in the region it serves. The result is an environment that reads as sophisticated without being stiff, contemporary without being fashionable — an interior built to age well.
The Outcome
The DIB Executive VIP Lounge is a small space that carries significant weight. A 150 square metre environment designed for the bank’s most important internal audience — quiet, warm, materially rich, and culturally rooted. Not a corporate lounge in the conventional sense, but something closer to a private residence at boardroom altitude. Luxurious, enduring, and unmistakably DIB.
