The Brief
Our client’s first commission with Ten Eight took us to Iran’s Caspian coast — a site nestled between the mountains and the sea, on some of the country’s most striking natural terrain. The brief was to design a G+6 residential building that would sit gracefully within this landscape: forested hillsides descending toward the Caspian, where architecture is judged not just on how it stands, but on how it belongs. The commission was full-scope — architecture, facade, interior design of the apartments, lobby, gym, and shared amenity spaces, together with a landscaped rooftop garden. The programme called for a residential environment that felt genuinely premium without imposing itself on its surroundings — a building that the mountains and trees would welcome, not tolerate.
The Approach
We began with the landscape. Every design decision was made in response to the site — the trees, the mountains, and the quiet luxury of a coastal setting where nature is the primary luxury on offer. Externally, timber-clad vertical elements are woven through the concrete facade — a direct reference to the forested hillsides that frame the site. Deep balconies with generous planters spill greenery across every level, and the rooftop garden extends this logic into the sky.
The Approach
Internally, the palette is quiet, contemporary, and rooted in place. Iranian marble forms the material foundation, layered with light oak veneer and soft beige tones that let the landscape outside remain the visual focus. Deep olive green threads through as the defining accent — carried in upholstery, artwork, and joinery details — connecting the interior to the forest beyond. The lobby anchors the residential experience with hospitality-level intent: bookmatched stone, layered oak paneling, and a sculptural reception desk that welcomes residents home with quiet confidence.
The Outcome
Didar Mesedeh delivers a rare kind of residential architecture for the Caspian region — one that is contemporary and materially refined, but rooted with genuine care in the landscape it inhabits. A building that belongs to its site, extends it, and gives its residents the closest possible relationship with the mountains and the sea beyond. It is also the first full-scope architectural commission Ten Eight delivered for a client who has since become one of our most trusted partners — the beginning of a body of work that now spans the Caspian coast and Tehran, and continues to grow.
